I am a son and a brother, an uncle and a nephew, a friend.

During the pandemic, some co-conspirators and I have been writing and acting in a podcast called Mental Radio. We put it together with Popsicle sticks and gum. It’s really good audio theater. You should listen.

I have been a staff writer at the St. Petersburg Times (now called the Tampa Bay Times) in Florida, the news and arts weekly Miami New Times in Miami (duh), the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram in Maine (which I generally refer to as “my beloved Maine,” because it is), and TheWrap in California. I have freelanced for Variety, launched a successful auction house, edited a bunch of stuff (including an Amazon bestselling book), been a talking head on TV, officiated at a wedding, and written (and sold!) some scripts. I hope to sell more. Soon.

Some of my friends have known me for a very long time. One of them flew a reasonably far distance so we could have lunch together. Another was nicknamed “Weasel” in the sixth grade. I don’t think anybody calls him that anymore. I have maintained friendships with some of my professors from the University of Florida. One of those professors disapproves of the Oxford comma. We disagree.

I am not fancy, but I know some fancy people and have been to some fancy places. I spend more time in non-fancy places.

I live in West Hollywood, I drink a lot of coffee, and I have a fear of sauces.
